Best Cutting Board I've Ever Had!
Oil and Seal Before Use! Great Set of Maple

This is a sturdy, beautiful set of maple blocks, oriented vertically to help protect your knives! However, because of its vertical grain, you MUST oil and prepare the block according to instructions (and perhaps seal with a mineral oil/beeswax mixture), BEFORE using. I didn't follow this advice, and I have one side that is very absorbent (I got it wet before oiling) and the other side that is just right! Well worth the investment in a hand-crafted block.
