The dimpled edge on this chefs knife is known as a "granton" edge, and provides a distinct advantage in food release. The 8" chefs knife is undeniably the most popular size for the home gourmet, and this example from MAC is an awesome western inspired example. Using their proprietary chrome-moly vanadium steel, designed to produce blades that could be thin (under 2.5mm) strong, tough, and take a keen edge, features that all knife makers strive for, but due to limitations of alloying often have trouble achieving. The chefs knife is the workhorse of every kitchen, and don't be afraid to press this one into service, MAC is so confident in it that they warrant it for 25 years against defects in materials and workmanship. This knife is not dishwasher safe, and really, no knife is.

Very happy with recent purchase of MAC chef's knife and particularly pleased with the sharpening service from CKTG that I purchased with the knife. Knife arrived amazingly well sharpened to 12 degrees and was completed much quicker than I expected.

I purchased this knife as a gift for my partner (don't worry he gave me a penny in exchange) because he had only dull, sad knives. I asked a chef friend what is a good, high quality, multi purpose knife with little maintenance and he referred me to this knife. It was shipped super quick and got here before his birthday. My partner was super stoked to finally be able to cut home grown tomatoes with precision and not smoosh them! He uses it for everything and so for no complaints. The only issue I had was the packaging was super cool looking but the box holding the knife, even though it was carefully bubble wrapped, was ripped. But now I can get him a cool case for Christmas. Any suggestions for this knife? Thank you!

i've had a henckels pro and new wusthof with the PETec edge. they're nice, solid well build knives, but for performance, the MAC blows them away. it's lighter, more agile, and so much sharper than i've ever experienced. cuts an onion like it's butter. looking forward to making a lot of things that require a lot of knife work! thanks Mark for the great service.

The knife was purchased for a wedding present so I didn't use the knife. I couldn't help taking it out of the box to inspect it and see how it felt in my hand. If I didn't have a extensive set of Wustoff classics and looking for a Takeda soon down the road I wouldn't give it a second thought as a personal purchase. What I can say however is that the service and delivery provided by Mark of Chefknivestogo was, as always, first class. I have corresponded with Mark regarding questions about sharpening stones, various knife products and Mark has always responded promptly and in a courteous, professional manner. I wouldn't purchase a knife anywhere else other than from Mark at Chefknivestogo. Thanks Mark.

I have fancier knives but this is the one I use 95 percent of the time.It was not particularly sharp out of the box but some work the the EdgePro gave it a very nice edge.Retains an excellent 15 degree edge but not a 10 degree.

One of the best values in 8 chef's knives out there. If I had $100 and needed a chef's knife in this length, this is the one I'd get every time. Mac handles run smaller and fit both my and my wife's hands well. I like the thin blade geometry (2mm at the bolster) and the blade is sharp Out of the box and stays that way for a long time. The dimples do nothing, but they look nice.
