The Masakage Kiri 120mm petty features the performance of the venerable VG10 cutlery steel, the handcraftsmanship of master blacksmith Hiroshi Kato, and refined aesthetics in a versatile and convenient platform. The VG10 core is hardened to 60-62 HRC for acute edge taking and extended edge holding. Since both the beautiful Damascus cladding and VG10 core are stainless steel, maintenance is easy with the Kiri line of knives. These knives are handcrafted in the storied knife producing center, Takefu Village by Hiroshi Kato, a master blacksmith with over 50 years of experience. The Damascus cladding is complemented by the oval shaped magnolia wood handle with a striking red pakka wood ferrule. Fit and finish on all Masakage knives is outstanding including a reputation for some of the best out of the box edges on the market. Please note some variation in specification occurs in all handcrafted knives so dimensions may vary from those posted.

I wanted a petty knife for general use during the day. I am not a chef so this is probably incorrect - to me the handle seems too light for the knife. However, the entire package is exactly what I had hoped.
Gorgeous, extremely sharp, and so far, strong.

I selected this knife to replace an aging Henkel 4" paring knife. I found I hadn't been using it for work in hand so much as finer work on a board. With that in mind I decided that a larger 120mm petty would be suitable. Because I would be using this knife extensively every day, I wanted to go fully stainless. I decided on this specific knife because it is shaped more like a "mini gyuto" as per review and that it has that nice big rounded choil for a pinch grip. I am very pleased with this knife! It is thin, stiff, and feather-light in hand - more like a surgical instrument. Very, very sharp OOB. Excellent fit and finish, and beautifully patterned damascus cladding. Highly recommended!

I wanted a small stainless knife to use with citrus and things of the like and this knife works perfectly! Great profile, height for the length, and handle size. The knife is nice and thin so performance is high and it sharpens quickly. It's also quite the stunner! I highly recommend it.
