New for 2019! This Retractable Magnet for the Edge Pro Apex helps you keep your blade stuck to the table of the machine and it works really well!
You may find the occasional knife where the magnetism will hinder your ability to sharpen. So instead of permanently attaching the magnet under the table, we found a way that allows the user to quickly and easily activate and deactivate the magnet by raising and lowering it, no tools required. Use the magnetic knife sharpener when it's helpful, lower the magnet when it's not. Quick and simple. Just the way we like it.
Installing the Edge Pro Apex table magnet accessory on new machines is VERY simple. The housing press fits (tightly) under the table. For older models, you may have to replace the leg screws (which will be provided) to make room for the magnet.

This magnet being slightly more expensive than other neodymium magnets. However, this frictions fits perfectly in the bottom of the Edge Pro. This magnet really does help stabilize knives and is desirable to have in many instances. The only negative is if you have it on and want to deactivate the magnet by pulling the pin on the bottom, the pin can separate from the magnet and it stays active until you remove the knife and press the pin back to the magnet. I think the pin and the magnet are held together by the magnetic force. This means you have to remove the knife first then deactivate the magnet by pulling the pin, then place the knife back on. This is NOT as big of a deal as it seems. The convenience of not having to un tape a separate magnet under the Apex is huge. I highly recommend this addition.

Super easy to install and use. This item makes it easy to keep your knife in a consistent spot on the edge pro. It really locks the blade in. So much so that I no longer have to concentrate on holding the blade in the same spot so hard. I can now just concentrate on the precision and consistency of my strokes. Remember, with the edge pro, consistency is king. This item makes consistency easy.
